With such power at his side, Rex raids Sloan's compound, eventually meeting him again in person. Rex destroys Sloan's war machine that help develop the missiles and discovers the location of an otherworldly gate that leads him to a weapon capable of killing Sloan and his constructs, the Killstar, a wrist-mounted laser. Darling contacts Rex after he regains consciousness, she has defected from Sloan after knowing of his intentions, a race of giant lizards known as Blood Dragons roam the island, their blood is supercharged from radiation, Sloan used it on himself to augment his Mark V cybernetics and is loading the missiles with to be launched all over the world. His purpose is to "redress the balance", Spider is killed and Rex knocked out. Elizabeth Darling reboots them, Sloan has become disillusioned with the American government and their attempts at peace with the Soviet Union, even after the damage the war has done. Sloan is arming ballistic missiles for launch, Rex and Spider disable the lift off, but are both offlined in the chaos. The enemy presence occupying the island are Omega Force, an elite American battalion and their leader is rogue Colonel Ike Sloan. Rex and fellow cyborg Lieutenant T.T "Spider" Brown are helicoptered into an unnamed island to infiltrate an enemy bunker and download critical intelligence.
